By Air
Kavala International Airport “Megas Alexandros” (KVA) is located approximately 31 km east of the city. The drive to the city center takes around 35–40 minutes via the Egnatia Highway.
Airport Transfers
Bus: Regular routes connect the airport to the city of Kavala. The bus stop is located just outside the terminal building.
Taxi: Taxis are available from the airport to the center of Kavala.
Car Rental: Several rental agencies operate at the airport, including Avance, Avis/Budget, Europcar, and Hertz/Thrifty.
By Intercity Bus (KTEL)
Kavala is connected to major cities across Greece via the Intercity Bus Service of Kavala (KTEL N. Kavalas).
From Athens: Daily routes with an approximate duration of 9 hours.

The port of Kavala is an important transportation hub for northern Greece, with ferry routes connecting the city to several Aegean islands, including Thassos, Limnos, Samothraki, Chios, and Mytilene.
Routes to Thassos are served regularly by ferries departing from Keramoti, offering easy and direct access to the nearest island. The journey takes just 35 minutes, making Thassos an ideal option for day trips or short getaways.
